Measure the space you have
Measure the usable depth and width of the table or shelf, leaving room around the edge. For a shelf, also measure the clearance above it: the vase and stems must fit together. On a dining table, think about sightlines between seated people and the space needed for plates and glasses.
Read the opening and base separately
Overall height does not tell you how many stems a vase will hold. Compare the opening width with your intended arrangement and the base with the surface it will stand on. Tall stems can change the balance. If the listing gives only overall dimensions, request the opening measurement before choosing a tightly packed arrangement.
Check whether it is suitable for water
A decorative vessel is not automatically a watertight flower vase. Read the specific product description and care instructions. If suitability for fresh flowers or standing water is not stated, ask before use or choose a dry arrangement. Do not infer watertightness from ceramic, glass or another material name alone.
Choose the finish for the setting
Use close-up photographs to examine texture and finish, alongside the written material description. Consider the colours already present in the room and whether you want a quiet background or a focal point. A product photograph can suggest a combination, but does not establish scratch resistance, dishwasher suitability or outdoor use.
Buy against the actual listing
Compare the current measurements, material, care instructions and available options. Check the delivery total and returns information before confirming your order. Caryina’s category page shows published products; this guide is general selection advice and does not mean every material, size or style mentioned is currently stocked.
